The Features, Advantages, & Benefits of Quartz

CONSISTENCY
Quartz offers consistency of structure and aesthetics, ensuring a coherent appearance throughout an installation. In addition, state-of- the-art pigment/polymer technology ensures uniformity of colors. Quartz surface materials are a complex advanced composite material made of 90+% quartz bound together by polymers and pigments designed to create a “new look” that is fresh, cool, sparkling and  luxurious.

ELEGANT BEAUTY
Quartz countertops offer a sophisticated elegance and timeless beauty that is ever changing as the constantly changing light in a room is reflected enhancing the radiance of the quartz crystals.  Quartz offers something new and bold for the discriminate consumer. Its design elements are best described as: distinctive depth, brilliant and unusual clarity, glimmering radiance and a cool, solid feel unique to natural stone.

MAINTENANCE FREE
Quartz surfaces are easy to clean. Simply wash with warm water. It's that simple. Once installed, there is no sealing, polishing or reconditioning.

Unlike granite or laminates Quartz aggressively refuses to accept stains from fruit juices, food coloring, coffee, tea, wine, grape juice, nail polish and even felt tip markers.

VERSATILITY
Quartz offers great potential for use in both horizontal and vertical applications. It can be used for any indoor surfacing application including: countertops, island tops, vanities, tub and shower surrounds, backsplashes, walls, wet bars, tabletops, desktops, fireplace surrounds, floors and more.

SCRATCH RESISTANT
Quartz is naturally scratch-resistant. Only three other natural minerals on earth are harder than quartz, one being diamonds. So, while a careless slip of the knife will scratch most other countertops such as laminates and solid surfaces, it won’t leave a mark on quartz. But, it could be damaged with excessive force or pressure.

SCORTCH RESISTANCE
Quartz will withstand limited exposure to heat without burning or scorching. The fire of a lit match will not mar it. Quality quartz manufacturers ensure that their products meet with existing class 1 standard for flame resistance and fire safety. However, it is advisable that high-heat appliances such as crock pots and electric skillets be placed on trivets and not directly on the countertop to avoid thermal shock.

STRENGTH
Quartz stands out for its superior strength and durability. It's a surface that is truly everlasting. It is tough, as indicated by its rating of 7 (out of a possible 10) on the Mohs’ hardness scale. Factory test show it to be 2 to 4 times stronger than granite making it less susceptible to scratches, chips, cracks or impact. This “strength” helps ensure accuracy in ordering, while reducing waste and inventory during fabrication, and eliminating the cracks, chips, scratches and breakage that is common to natural stone delivery and installations. Quartz may be seen as just a “pretty face” out in the world, but the fabricators and installers who work it behind the scenes respect it as a exceptionally reliable product line.

HYGIENIC
Quartz surfaces are hygienic because the material is totally non-porous; bacteria and mould have nowhere to hide. That makes cleanup easy while preventing food and moisture from penetrating the surface, which is the main source of growth for harmful bacteria. Unlike granite, quartz does not need to be sealed to keep its lustrous shine or to be “food safe.” It is hard and non-porous, therefore it is highly resistant to common household stains and the strict hygienic set forth in commercial, medical and hospitality installations. Taking it one step farther, leading manufacturers have their quartz products certified as proof that they meet and/or surpass international standards for food preparation and hygienic applications.

BETTER THAN STONE
Because it is non-porous, quartz does not need to be sealed. Granite, marble and limestone, on the other hand, must be sealed on installation and resealed regularly to prevent staining and bacteria accumulation. Because it is dense and stain resistant it’s a “rock star” when it comes to easy maintenance. There simply are no tough stains, scratches and scorch marks to clean up.

COLORS & EDGES
Quartz comes in a dazzling array of colors, from conservative neutral hues, to daring bright colors, ensuring that even the most sophisticated taste can be accommodated.  Colors and patterns run all the way through the material and cannot wear off. This allows for edge designs limited only by the imagination.

UNIFORMITY
Quartz delivers a uniform consistency that allows for meeting design, cutting, routing and finishing requirements with precision, uniformity and consistency.

RELIABILITY
Quartz surfaces are the result of highly sophisticated and tightly controlled manufacturing processes that ensure reliable performance, color consistency and ultimate durability every time. ISSFA Member’ typically offer a limited 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
