Hello Dave. Posting here is a good place to start.I have always been impressed with fabricators from Europe. They seem to be way ahead of the learning curve. Some of the most impressive projects done with SS have taken place over in Europe.

Its funny you want to work here and My guys want to work in England. I guess very one likes a change of pace.

Hi DaveMac,

Im an American, but left the US in 2004 to become an expatriate and work overseas.(Taiwan, China, Philippines, Korea, EU, Turkey, etc etc) While the monies I made in the US were good, they cant compare with overseas work. WIth that said, sometimes you have to leave your backyard to fulfill your dreams.

This site contains lots of info about this industry. May I also suggest www.thefabricatornetwork.com and www.surfaceforums.com  All 3 sites have a plethora of excellent people participating like Jon and many others, who are legends in the industry and can offer you good advice. Ive never had the opportunity to visit England, but hope to do so one day.

Best Regards,

Lenny Elbon

Dear DaveMac,

I misquoted that 3rd website. Its www.surfacefabrication.com and they have a forum. My apologies for any inconvenience this caused you.  I was multitasking as usual, drinking coffee, talking on the phone- typing in a forum and reviewing financials. I guess I gotta slow down a bit. Good luck on your plans to work in the USA.

One tidbit, the  US will tax you on any income derived while working there.. If you become a citizen and move to another country  they will tax you on your overseas income even if you pay taxes in the country where you work. The US is the only developed country that does this. Its one thing that the US has in common with North Korea.(double taxation).

B Rgds,

Lenny
