Great news for ALL issfa members – especially those involved with commercial and government spec work! issfa has submitted documents to the American Woodwork Institute (AWI) to add a “solid surface standard” section to the AWI Quality Standards Illustrated. This means “solid surface”, in its various forms, is now described in technical detail for its application, environment, and assembly standards. issfa is working hard to get this document added, as none currently exists in a form that is able to be referenced for material-specific qualifications.
These documents were created by the combined hard work of Gus Blume, Jon Lancto, Kurt Bonk, Todd Werstler, Jon Olson, and Mike Job, and received final approval by the issfa Board of Directors on June 13, 2008.
We at issfa are proud of this achievement, as it represents a uniform standard for solid surface specification and fabrication, which will help increase awareness of the various materials and their applications. While this is not a singular effort, it does represent the ongoing mission issfa undertakes to ensure our members have the tools they need to make great strides in the industry.
The documents we’ve created are available for your review and usage now. Please feel free to refer to or attach them in any communications with architects, specifiers, owners, and any others that have a need.
The documents were e-mailed to all members 6-19-08 and will be posted in the document vault section of www.issfa.org soon.
