Dear ISSFA, care to share with us  minions what the criteria is for "Associate of the Year?" Apparently advertising, with your approval, two lines of product that said nominee has no right to sell is cool with ISSFA!

Are you folks at ISSFA utter fools?

Is this where Jon Olsen steps in to save your lames selves?

Dave,
With respect, the listing I believe you are referring to is the nominations for Associate of the Year for 2008. Those people/companies have been nominated by the members of the association. Not by the staff. All of those companies/persons were nominated by members because of all that they do to further the industry and association. Nomination forms were sent to all current members late last year. As you can see from the list, there were several companies/persons that received nominations.

The criteria for Associate of the year is: For an individual, of an associate member company, that in the past year has best exemplified the role of servicing the needs of fabricator member companies, and who has best supported ISSFA in all activities.

The winners will be announced at the issfa General Session Meeting during the Surface/Fabrication & Design EXPO. The General Session is scheduled for Thursday, February 21st starting at 10:00 AM in room #N-232. I look forward to seeing you there! I hope you will be nominated next year.

I think we do need to think about how nomination's are made. Just leaving it up to a member to nominate someone has a few flaws. First what if they don't now who the industry leaders are and just pick there buddy?

Why not when nomination papers are sent out, ISSFA has pre screen 4 possibilities ? Give us the choices.

Jon,
ISSFA is the members, not the staff. Would staff sending out a pre-screened list not be more of the issue that seems to be implied as a problem? I do not know. I was mearly trying to post the process which is called out in the bylaws of the association. Should that process be reviewed? Maybe, it is not for me to say.

Yes Bill your correct  ISSFA staff should not make the list.  Perhaps a committee of fabrciaotrs could be formed. But do you see the point?
